This site is dedicated the memory of Sam Cobean, whose humor graced the pages of New Yorker Magazine in the 1940s & 50s.  His book of cartoons, The Naked Eye, has been published around the world.  Copies of his books are still actively traded by his fans.  A close friend and co-worker with cartoonist Charles Addams (The Addams Family), Sam Cobean has influenced cartoons and cartoonists for several generations.  Sam Cobean created humor that truly transcends the barriers of language, culture, race and even time.  The cartoons featured in this site were photographed from his original sketches.  This collection is copyrighted. Images may not be reproduced or used for any commercial purpose without the written consent of the Sam Cobean estate.
